Universal Milling and Boring

The SEYMOUR B-Type is designed and manufactured in Halifax, England. The B-Type is a truly universal milling and boring machine.   The machine is suited to both large and small jobs.  The large bed is very versatile, allowing work on one large component or multiple smaller ones.  Large overhanging components can be easily accommodated by attaching angle plates to the front of the bed. The B-Type has been designed to be an extremely versatile machine to meet users requirements as efficiently as possible.

Economical versatility

The efficiency is at the core of the B-Type designed, the standardization on the Siemens 828Dsl coupled with the latest highly efficient Sinamics motors and combi drive allows for a very compact design and high optimization of the servo and CNC equipment.  The combination the highly efficient mechanical drive, Efficient Siemens motor and developing the Power at a low speed achieves exceptional metal removal using much less power than is traditionally expected.  The Siemens 828Dsl runs Siemens Operate with Shopmill meaning that the end user programming and operation of the machine is identical to the 840D.  The 828Dsl is the obvious choice for worldwide support allowing quick service and spares delivery if required in the future.

Configured to suit your needs

The B-Type is a very versatile machine designed to be at home in many sectors.  This bed type moving column milling and boring machine configuration has proved a favourite with machine shops world wide and is generally thought of as the de facto large milling and boring machine.  The B-type and HD30 milling head has been proved on many materials and will be equally at home machining;

  • General purpose jobbing shop work.
  • Fabrication and construction.
  • Hard material milling machine for the likes of rail and hard steel alloys such as inconel.

The B-Type is designed in a modular manner to allow different options to be easily specified.  The basic machine is aimed at customers who just want to cut metal and need nothing more than a well designed, robust, CNC controlled, easy to use milling & boring machine.  Customers can request any option that might be required, be they purely technological or relating to the machine structure and modules used.  A typical list options would be;

Machining on rotated planes made easy

The Siemens inbuilt support for the universal head make machining on angled planes very easy.  We configure the machine to do the hard work for you.  Tell the machine the angle to machine at and it calculates the angles for the head joints and sets the working plane, no need for look up tables or trig.  The operator can then easily programme the machine in the working plane and jog the machine relative to either the working plane or the default machine plane.

Efficient Face milling

Slots and interpolated pockets

Interpolation of slots and pockets easily achieved.  Conventional slot mills or end mills and modern tipped high speed cutters are intuitively dealt with and easily interchanged when tooling data is entered in the tool table.
